“Praise the Lord! I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart, in the company of the upright, in the congregation.” Psalm 111:1
Psalm 111 exhorts us to do three glorious things as we gather to worship with our brothers and sisters in Christ. Working our way backwards through this song of worship they are:
Thank and praise the Lord for his many attributes & kindnesses, culminating in His work of redemption. (verse 9)
Do this among the congregation. (verse 1)
Do this with our whole heart! (verse 1)
This Sunday as we gather, may we give thanks and praise to the Lord with all of our being and might! Let us come empty that we might be filled and changed!
During this coming Sunday gathering, we will give testimony to God’s grace — that sinners who deserve to fall before His eternal throne in judgment can instead fall in worship and gratitude before this “throne of grace”!
* This tentative order of our upcoming gathered worship is posted as an opportunity to use it in your private or family worship prior to our meeting together in a few days. The worship team of GTBC, service directors, and elders have found great benefit for their souls in having these available for their own private worship and reflection, so we wanted to make this resource available to all that might desire to use it in this way. May we all be better “cross-boasters” as a result!
This Resurrection Sunday gathering, we will rejoice that Christ has overcome sin, death, Satan, and hell by His death on the cross and resurrection from the grave!

“Oh sing to the LORD a newsong, for he has done marvelous things! His right hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him.” (Psalm 98:1, ESV)
I’m excited that God is continuing to provide new music for His church as ongoing demonstration of His newly-shown mercies through Christ. It has been my goal (and challenge!) to teach the Grace & Truth family new songs on a semi-regular basis, especially to coincide with our sermon series and direct our attention to various facets of the Gospel.
We began to learn a new song this past week in preparation for our gathered worship on Resurrection Sunday, with the desire to have a few weeks to have everyone really learn it well for that day. My prayer is that this song would bring to our minds the present realities of the resurrection of Christ, and provoke us to worship Him afresh for those truths. Take some time this week to meditate on the lyrics below and pray for the Spirit’s work of application to your life.
“I Will Rise” There’s a peace I’ve come to know
Though my heart and flesh may fail
There’s an anchor for my soul
I can say “It is well”
Jesus has overcome
And the grave is overwhelmed
The victory is won
He is risen from the dead
And I will rise when He calls my name
No more sorrow, no more pain
I will rise on eagles’ wings
Before my God fall on my knees
And rise
I will rise
There’s a day that’s drawing near
When this darkness breaks to light
And the shadows disappear
And my faith shall be my eyes
And I hear the voice of many angels sing,
“Worthy is the Lamb!”
And I hear the cry of every longing heart,
“Worthy is the Lamb!”
This video contains a bit of the background behind the song, along with a cross centered perspective on trials in light of the worthy Lamb who was slain and will be praised for all eternity:
And they sang a new song, saying, ”Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals, for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation” (Revelation 5:9, ESV)
We are a family of individuals around Hillsboro, Oregon who have been redeemed by Christ's blood and are called to the work of Gospel discipleship in this community.
